Nurses Who Cared For First U.S. Ebola Patient Tell Their Story

Four nurses from Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital talked to 60 Minutes about what it was like to treat Ebola patient Thomas Eric Duncan. "We held his hand and talked to him and comforted him because his family couldn't be there."

In a powerful interview aired Sunday on 60 Minutes, four nurses involved in the care of Thomas Eric Duncan talked to CBS News' Scott Pelley.

They also talked about having two of their colleagues — Nina Pham and Amber Vinson — diagnosed with the virus.

"I thought someone was playing a cruel joke," said one of the nurses, John Mulligan. "I finally looked at my phone and saw the missed text messages and the voicemails and turned the news on and went, 'Oh my goodness.'"
