Kylie Jenner Slammed The “Big Misconception” That She Chose To Get “So Much Surgery” On Her Face Because She Was “Insecure”

“My daughter looks like me. I get to see my beauty in her, and it’s made me love myself more for sure.”

Kylie Jenner is getting candid about her shifting approach toward beauty.

Sitting down with HommeGirls magazine this week for a wide-ranging conversation, Kylie was asked about how her attitude toward beauty has changed over the years.

And the 25-year-old business mogul was quick to credit her kids — 5-year-old Stormi and 1-year-old Aire — with inadvertently changing the way she views herself.

For some context, Kylie, who virtually grew up in the spotlight, has long been open about feeling insecure over her lips as a teenager.

Kylie famously spent years overlining her lips before getting fillers at the age of 17. “It's an insecurity of mine, and it's what I wanted to do,” she admitted during a 2015 episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians after heaps of previous denial.

Speaking about the subject further during the 2021 KUWTK reunion, Kylie told host Andy Cohen that she developed an “obsession” with makeup as a result of her insecurity.

“I had really small lips, and I didn’t ever think about it until I had one of my first kisses and a guy said to me, ‘Oh my god, you're such a good kisser, but you have such small lips,’ or something like that. From then on, I felt unkissable,” she said.

“I had an insecurity because this guy said something to me one time,” she added. “Then I got an obsession with makeup because I would overline my lips and it just made me feel confident.”

Aside from her lips, Kylie has denied getting any other work done to her face, having previously gushed over the way that makeup — and particularly contouring — can totally alter the shape of it.

Now, Kylie has opened up about experiencing a newfound love for her natural features after seeing them in her kids' faces.

Telling HommeGirls that her approach to beauty has “changed so much” over the years, Kylie began, “It’s made me love myself more.”

“I see my features in my daughter and my son now, but you know, my daughter looks like me,” she went on. “I get to see my beauty in her, and it’s made me love myself more for sure. Beauty is always changing for me.”

And going on to share a sweet word of advice toward little Stormi, Kylie urged her to “always be confident” in herself.

“She’s perfect the way that she is,” Kylie said. “Be confident, always be confident in yourself.”

Going on to address the subject of her own confidence a little further, Kylie shut down speculation that she was massively insecure before getting her lips done.

“Yeah, I love full lips and wanted full lips, but growing up I was always the most confident person in the room. I was the girl performing for everyone,” she explained.

“I had my one lip insecurity thing, so I got lip filler, and it was the best thing I’ve ever done. I don’t regret it. But I always thought I was cute,” she added.

And Kylie also denied the long-running speculation that she’s had “lots of surgery” on her face over the years, calling it a “big misconception.”

“I think a big misconception about me is that I’ve had so much surgery on my face and that I was some insecure person, and I really wasn’t!” she said.
