Here's Your First Listen Of Jamal's Emotional New Song From This Week's "Empire"

"'Battle Cry' is a super-passionate song," Jussie Smollett told BuzzFeed News. "It’s just so beautiful and fits perfectly with the scene."

We all lose our minds, dance on our couches, or even shed a tear a la Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) whenever Jamal (Jussie Smollett) starts singing a new song on Empire.

Like when he dropped this one last season and came out to the world.

🎶 This the kind of song that makes a man love a man. A man love a man. A man love a man. 🎶

This week, Jamal sings a new track, "Battle Cry," that has a powerful message. (It's also the second song of Empire Season 2 that's written by singer-songwriter Ne-Yo.)

"'Battle Cry' is a super-passionate song that I did with Ne-Yo," Smollett told BuzzFeed News in an email. "It's just so beautiful and it fits perfectly with the scene. When you see the episode, you'll know why." Listen to it in full here:

🎶 I refuse to lose this battle may whatever come my way. I am stronger than my rival. No, I will not fold today. 🎶

Empire airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/8 CT on Fox.
