What It Felt Like To Land A Robot On Mars

The happiest place on earth, at least for a few minutes last night, was the control room at the Jet Propulsion Lab.

There were high fives

There was gesticulating

There was weeping

There was clapping

There was howling

There was waving

There was Olympics-style posing

"Bro, look, we did that"

There was a "good game, good game, good game" line

There was grinning

"Hey, where did my robot go OH LOOK THERE IT IS, ON A DIFFERENT PLANET"

There was fist-pumping

"WHO just put a robot on Mars?? That's right."

There were sweet 'dos

"No, no, really, it was nothing"

There was hugging

There were sighs of relief

There was jumping

There was Alex Trebek

There was "YEAHHHHHH"ing

And of course, there was tension

But then there was Mars

"Friggin Mars right there"

"Yeah, dude, I know"
