In just the right context, this Google ad for Analytics and site search makes sense. And to the kind of person who Google is trying to convince here — someone who runs an e-commerce website, and knows a lot about enterprise products — the message that most site-search tech is terrible will probably resonate. "Yes," a site admin might say, "the advanced search interface on our e-commerce platform is unhelpful!"
But to a large majority of the tens of thousands of people who've watched the video on YouTube, for whom that last sentence means nothing, that's not how the video reads at all. Right up until the last frame it seems like a pretty good, and fairly damning, parody of Google itself. It almost works better that way, actually.
