A Puerto Rican family in a small northern Ohio city was insulted and warned to leave their neighborhood of three years in an anonymous letter left at their home by a neighbor.
The letter said the family is unwelcome and frequently refers to "your people" while calling them noisy and violent. It tells the family to move out and threatens them with consequences, according to WOIO-TV.
"Your people need to be contained in one area, not spread throughout our community," the letter said.
A family member says they are the only Hispanic family on the block, but have not had problems with neighbors in the past. The family has filed a complaint with police in Lorain, a city of about 60,000 just west of Cleveland.
"I am worried for my family's safety," one family member said. "With people of such ignorance that aren't thinking right, you don't really know what they're capable of."
The family does not plan to move in response to the threats, according to the report.
