Twitter during key World Cup matches can feel like a one-subject feed, to the delight of fans and the dismay of the soccer agnostic. And now we have a very good visual testament to that fact. Simon Rogers, Twitter's new data editor, has created a beautiful visualization of all Twitter activity across the globe during the group stages, which started two weeks ago and ended yesterday.

Here are some highlights:

This is Twitter activity during the first game, Brazil versus Croatia.

There were more than 12 million tweets about the game, which is the highest number of any game so far. Will the final surpass it?

This is Europe during Germany's 4-0 demolition of Portugal.

There were 8.9 million tweets! That is a lot of tweets!

This is during the 2-2 draw between the US and Portugal.

That's another 8 million tweeterinos!

And here's the Middle East and South Asia during Iran-Argentina.

5.4 million. Still lots of tweets. People love tweeting about Messi!
