How Much Games Really Cost Around The World

The best place to be a gamer? Denmark.

Over at GamePointsNow, Simon Ward has calculated how long someone paid average wages in twelve developed nations would have to work in order to afford a brand new video game at retail. He took into account average salary after tax, plus local game prices in order to create a kind of Big Mac Index for gamers.

The gamers with the most purchasing power? Danes.

The average Dane needs to work only two and a half hours to be able to afford a new video game. That's the same amount of time it takes to watch Zero Dark Thirty.

(Perhaps unsurprisingly, Denmark annually ranks as one of the world's happiest nations.)

Meanwhile, the average Pole needs to work over fourteen hours to afford a brand new video game. That's about as long as it takes to watch the entire extended edition Lord of the Rings trilogy, plus The Hobbit.

Here's the full breakdown.
