Two Dead After Shooting At Manhattan Home Depot

The gunman, an employee who reportedly had a dispute with his manager, killed one person before killing himself, the NYPD said.

A gunman shot and killed one person before taking his own life at a crowded Manhattan Home Depot on Sunday, the NYPD said.

The NYPD said in a statement to BuzzFeed News that officers responded to reports of a shooting at the store shortly before 3:00 p.m. ET.

The alleged gunman, Calvin Esdaile, 31, from Brooklyn, was found dead inside the store with a gunshot wound to the head, the NYPD said. The second victim, 38-year-old Moctar Sy, from the Bronx, was taken to Bellevue Hospital with gunshot wounds to the head and the chest, the NYPD said. He was also later pronounced dead.

Crazy, came out of the subway and there were just hundreds of people running away from something.

Am locked up in the store next door, Home Depot staffer is in here in tears calling her husband. Pretty crazy scene.

The 31-year-old victim was the gunman in the incident and was an employee at the store, according to multiple media reports.

Law enforcement sources said the gunman shot the 38-year-old victim, who was his manager, before killing himself, The New York Post reported.

A witness said that he heard the gunman had been fired from the store and had come back to exact revenge, according to The New York Daily News.

"What I heard was that a guy was fired and that he came back to the store," Orlando Straughter told the Daily News.

A witness told the Post he heard about five shots and "thought it was fireworks." Then he saw people running away.

This is a developing story. Check back later for updates.
