The controversial MIT economist who became famous for calling voters "stupid" has been fired from the Massachusetts health board.
Jonathan Gruber stepped down from a position on the Health Connector board after Gov. Charlie Baker demanded his resignation, CBS Boston reported Wednesday.

Baker also demanded resignations from three other board members: John Bertko, Rick Jakious, and George Gonser. According to CBS, the firings will give Baker's appointees to the board majority control.
Massachusetts' Health Connector is the state's health insurance marketplace. It was created after the state passed health care reform laws, commonly known as Romneycare, in 2006. Gruber was first appointed to the board by Mitt Romney.
Gruber made headlines late last year after a series of videos surfaced in which he said Obamacare passed because voters were "stupid" and "exploited."
In subsequent videos, Gruber explained that the national health care law would ultimately result in the phasing out of private, employer-oriented insurance.
Gruber landed in hot water once again this month when Vermont state auditors accused him of improper billing for consulting work.
Baker's office did not immediately return BuzzFeed News' requests for comment Wednesday.
