This is Christmas, an old blind dog in Bosnia that, until last week, had been trapped in a deep well for at least a month.
According to the international rescue group, Harmony Fund, Christmas had apparently been searching the field for food when he fell down the 26-foot well.
When international animal rescuer Fahrudin Caki Bravo and his friend, Ratko Koblar, heard of the dog's plight, they raced over to pull him out, and captured it all on video.
The rescuers used rope to tether one of the men to a rope, and then lower him down.
A few minutes later, Christmas was hoisted out of the well.
Rescuers said Christmas survived on scraps of food local children would toss down the well for the dog.
In an interview with ABC News, Laura Simpson, founder of Massachusetts-based Harmony Fund, said the dog was in surprisingly good shape considering his plight.
"The blindness of course is from a pre-existing condition, but he's now in foster care and we're hoping he can find a home there he's loved and respected in the way he should be," she said.
Simpson went on to describe Christmas as a gentle dog "with a very sweet, and forgiving disposition."
