Liz Cheney's first campaign ad for her run for the Senate in Wyoming focuses strongly on her family's long history in the Cowboy State.
The minute long spot, released Wednesday and titled "Generations," features Cheney narrating her family's ties to Wyoming. Cheney, who spent part of her childhood in Wyoming but just moved back to the state last year, has been called a carpet bagger and faced criticism for moving to the state just a year before waging a battle in the Republican primary against three-term incumbent Sen. Mike Enzi.
In the ad, Cheney calls her children "5th generation Wyomingites."
"20 years ago, Phil and I were married here in Wyoming, and today we're raising our kids here on the same Wyoming values I grew up with," Cheney says in the ad.
She then chronicles her family's history in the state, including when her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, first ran for Congress in 1978.
"When I was 12 years old, my dad ran for Congress and we campaigned together as a family all across Wyoming. We learned a lot, and about what it means to earn the vote one person at a time."
