More newspaper articles have been written about the 2016 presidential election this year than were written at the same time before the last two elections, according to Pew Research Center.
The most frequently mentioned possible candidates are:
1. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was mentioned 66 times.
2. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) was mentioned 52 times.
3. Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) was mentioned 48 times.
4. Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ) was mentioned 45 times.
5. Vice President Joe Biden was mentioned 35 times.
14. Gov. Martin O'Malley (D-MD) was mentioned 10 times.
The study found Hillary Clinton is by far the most frequently mentioned possible candidate. The next Democrat on the list, Joe Biden, received nearly half as many mentions.
But overall, Republican candidates are mentioned more than Democratic ones. The third most frequently mentioned Democrat on the list, Martin O'Malley, doesn't even show up until after Donald Trump.
