Twitter Is Testing A New "Buy" Button

Move will allow users to make purchases from tweets within a couple of clicks.

Twitter is testing a new system which allows businesses to embed "buy" buttons in their tweets, Wired reported.

The move will allow users to instantly purchase products mentioned within tweets almost instantly, and marks the social network's first experimentation with commerce.

The feature will initially be aimed at selling time-sensitive items such as event tickets, but could lead to a new revenue stream for the company, The New York Times reported

Twitter currently relies on advertising for nearly all of its income. Wired reported that a the button will be rolled out to a "small percentage" of Twitter users in the U.S., and that will grow as time goes on.
