More Plane Debris Found On La Réunion, Malaysian Transport Minister Says

Liow Tiong Lai said a window and aluminum foil had been collected on the French territory, but could not confirm it was from Flight MH370.

A Malaysian team has discovered more plane debris on the beaches of La Réunion after part of a wing was found last week on the French island, which lies near the coast of Madagascar, the Malaysian transport minister said Thursday.

Liow Tiong Lai said that investigators on the island had found items including a window and some aluminum foil, but were not yet able to confirm whether they came from Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, which went missing on March 8, 2014 with 239 people on board, AP reported.

Liow said there are still "many items to be collected" from the island, and that the new debris had been "sent to the French authorities for investigation."

"I cannot confirm that it's from MH370," he added.

Liow said the Malaysian government was seeking to widen the search and had asked authorities in other Indian Ocean territories including Mauritius and Madagascar to comb their beaches for possible debris.

On Wednesday, Malaysian Prime Minister Najab Razak confirmed that the wing part found on La Réunion was indeed from the missing plane.
