21 Images That Show The Destruction After The Liberation Of Kobani

The Syrian border town was liberated this week after months of battles between ISIS fighters and Kurdish militias. These photographs show the damage that fighting has wrought in the town.

On Tuesday, the town of Kobani, on Syria's border with Turkey, was liberated by Kurdish militias after 112 days of clashes with fighters for the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

The town became one of the central focuses of the U.S.-led coalition's operations against ISIS, and its liberation marked an important step in the bid to roll back the group's territorial gains.

The liberation has, however, come at a price, with monitoring group the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) estimating that 324 Kurdish fighters and 12 civilians were among 1,313 deaths in the battle for the town.

The town's infrastructure has also been heavily damaged.
