Two Killed In Knife Attack At Ikea Store In Sweden

The incident happened in the city of Vasteras, 70 miles west of the capital, Stockholm. Two people were arrested on suspicion of murder.

A knife attack at an Ikea store in the Swedish city of Vasteras left two people dead and another seriously injured on Monday, according to a statement by the local police.

The identities of the man and woman killed are not yet known. They were taken to the hospital alive, but later succumbed to their injuries.

"On the site there was a man and a woman with knife wounds who later died of their injuries," Vasteras police said.

A third person was also taken to hospital after being seriously injured in the attack. She's believed to be in critical condition.

Police arrested two men on suspicion of murder but that there was no known connection between the attackers and the victims, according to the Associated Press.

Department store manager Mattias Johansson told local newspaper VLT the victims were "regular visitors."

The entire store was evacuated and staff had to walk out through the back door.

It is not yet clear what sparked the incident or if the victims were known to each other.
