A suicide bomber blew himself up in Egypt's southern city of Luxor on Wednesday, security officials told the Associated Press.
Following the explosion, a gun battle between police and two other individuals suspected of having accompanied the suicide bomber to the tourist-packed site ensued.
Two people were reportedly killed, Egypt's Health Ministry told CNN, while five others were left injured. The identities of the dead are not yet known.

Luxor's Karnak complex is the second-largest ancient religious site in the world. It is one of Egypt's main tourist attractions, with only the pyramids of Giza slightly ahead in popularity.
Last week in Cairo two police officers were shot dead by gunmen on a road leading to the Great Pyramids of Giza, Aljazeera reported.
Tourism is Luxor's main economic driver. Wednesday's attack came as visitors were starting to flock back to the region after years of instability following the ousting of long-time dictator Hosni Mubarak.
