Oblong

The future will be here in about five years, apparently. Oblong Industries unveiled their new "g-speak spatial operating environment" this weekend at TED. The technology is a gesture-based computer interface, which means you can control objects on the screen just by moving your hands and acting like you're all from the future and stuff.

The coolest thing about this technology, as far as most people are concerned, is that it is based on the interactive technology that was used in the movie Minority Report - special effects that were also conceived by the folks at Oblong Industries. The difference being that Minority Report was set in 2054, so we'll be getting our future about 40 years earlier than they did. Hopefully minus the thought police.
