How To Get on BuzzFeed's Front Page!!

Want to get your posts featured all up on the BuzzFeed home page, thereby becoming the most popular person in your school/office/home? There are so many ways to do that. Here are some tips!

  • The best way to get on BuzzFeed's front page is to make something that has a high chance of going viral. Have a look at our most viral posts to get a sense of what works. Then use these tips to help you create something that is just viral as all hell.

  • 1. Don't Just Link

Link buzzes are great for letting people know about a new site that's launching or a breaking news item, but creative images and videos have a much higher chance of getting shared and linked to. If it's something awesome that you've found, give it a bit of personal spin in your description to make it even awesomer.

  • 2. Make Lists And Quizzes

Play around with BuzzFeed's "List" and "Quiz" buzz types. You could make a list of the Top 10 bridges that John Mayer should jump off, or a quiz that helps people find out which insufferable John Mayer song they are. Or something else. John Mayer is so annoying.

  • List Example: The 50 Best Protest Signs Of 2009

  • Quiz Example: What Font Are You?

  • 3. Find An Angle

What's the big thing that the news is obsessed with right now? Are the Olympics happening right about now? We're going to need some serious analysis of everybody's costumes. And so on.

  • Example: Things That Should Be Olympic Sports

  • Example: What Can Bros Do On Valentine's Day?

  • 4. Share!

Share your posts on StumbleUpon, Facebook, Twitter, or even by e-mailing them around like in the olden days! Our Buzz robots can detect when a specific post is going viral, which will give it a high chance of reaching the front page. Sharing is caring, you guys.

  • 5. Start A Channel

Did you know you can create your own channel on BuzzFeed in addition to (or instead of) your personal profile? You can use a channel to do a bunch of posts around a theme. Here are some of our favorite BuzzFeed channels for inspiration.

  • Venn Diagrams!

  • TurtleFeed

  • The Found Footage Festival

  • Dollar Van Demos

  • Probs An Offender

  • Extreme Bears!!!

Be creative and try some of these things out! See if you can make something that people will want to "viral out to the whole school", like in this awesome video about real life.
