This Touching Picture Of Two Young Friends With Cancer Hugging Is Going Viral

Because of all the attention, 5-year-old Maliyah Jones got to see herself on TV.

In early May, Tazz Jones was visiting her daughter Maliyah at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh when she snapped a picture of her and a friend, Madelina DeLuca, hugging.

She posted the image on her Facebook, calling it "the perfect example of love," and asked people to share the picture around the world.

Recently, the image was picked up by local news outlets, then went national and has been shared thousands of times over Twitter and Facebook.

"[Madelina] and Maliyah clicked as if they knew one another for some time," Jones told ABC News. "At that moment I starred [sic] in awe! I wondered what they were feeling; what they were thinking and how they felt."

Maliyah, who is 5 years old, has been battling Stage 4 Neuroblastoma since she was 2, her mother said on a fundraising page.

Madelina, 2, was diagnosed in November with Acute Myeloid Luekemia, her fundraising page says, but according to photos her mother posted on Facebook, has ended her chemotherapy.

"Through sickness and health there will always be someone by your side weather [sic] you know them or not. My heart filled with joy and hope," Jones wrote on her Facebook, "and I knew that I cannot just be the only person to see this."
