At least two people have been reportedly shot outside an Army National Guard recruiting center near Millington Naval Base in Tennessee. The shooter, who is in police custody, was allegedly an employee who had just been fired. The victims are reported to be in noncritical conditions.
Millington Naval Base, officially known as Naval Support Activity Mid-South, serves "as the Navy's Human Resources Center of Excellence," according to its official description. More than 7,500 military, civilian, and contract personnel work on base, and many major commands are centered there.
The suspect used a small handgun to inflict single gunshot wounds — one victim was shot in the leg, the other in the foot, according to officials.The two people shot were taken to a hospital.
The Navy said on its official Twitter account that neither of the injured had life-threatening injuries.
