Hitler In A Giant Mural Alongside Batman And Captain America Was Probably A Bad Idea

One of these things is not like the other. The Thai university where this was hung has since apologized.

A university in Thailand has apologized for displaying a graduation mural that showed Adolf Hitler alongside Superman, Batman and other comic book superheroes.

The huge billboard was placed outside the art faculty of Chulalongkorn University, one of Thailand's most prestigious schools, as part of a tribute to this year's graduating class from incoming students. It was up for two days before international internet outrage prompted the school to remove it on Saturday.

"(We) would like to formally express our sincere apology for our students' 'Superhero' mural," art school dean Suppakorn Disatapundhu said in a statement issued on Monday. "I can assure you we are taking this matter very seriously."

Supakorn Dispan told the Bangkok Post that he had talked to the students, who told him they had no ill-intentions. "The students only wanted to show through the mural that different superheroes are there to protect the world and that there are both good and evil people," he said. "Please do not forget that they are first-year students and have been here for only a few months."
