Gisele Bündchen Opened Up About Her “Great” Bond With Bridget Moynahan 16 Years After Her World Was “Turned Upside Down” By News That Tom Brady Had Fathered A Child With Her

Tom and Bridget’s son, Jack, was born in August 2007 — seven months into his relationship with Gisele.

Gisele Bündchen opened up about her split from Tom Brady for the first time since their divorce was finalized in October, and she’s looking back on the toughest parts of their 13-year marriage.

Opening up to Vanity Fair for its April issue, the supermodel reflected on the discovery that Tom had fathered a child with his ex-girlfriend, Bridget Moynahan, back in 2007.

Tom and Bridget were together for three years starting in 2004. The two announced that they’d broken up in December 2006 — shortly before Tom and Gisele were introduced by a mutual friend that same month.

Tom and Gisele, who were 29 and 26 at the time they met, went public with their relationship in January 2007.

However, a month later in February, Bridget confirmed she was pregnant. Tom informed Gisele privately just one day before the news broke to the world.

Reflecting on the moment she learned of Bridget’s pregnancy, Gisele wrote in her 2018 memoir that she felt her “world had been turned upside down,” and later admitted to CBS This Morning that she considered leaving the relationship altogether.

But, as we now know, Gisele stayed put and Tom and Bridget’s son, Jack, was born in August 2007. Tom and Gisele went on to marry two years later in 2009.

Speaking to Vanity Fair about the scandal today, Gisele emphasized that it was “a challenging situation” for all of them, but that it ultimately came with its positives.

Gisele revealed that raising Jack — her now 15-year-old “bonus child” — with Tom and Bridget helped fast-forward her own family plans.

“When I met Tom, I was 26 years old, and I wanted a family. I felt so ready,” she said.

“Jack came into our lives and I felt so blessed and it kind of awakened in me this desire of being a mom,” she went on. “I’ve always dreamed of being a mom, but I think that happened a little faster than I thought, because now I have this beautiful little angel that I get to care for and love.”

Tom and Gisele welcomed their children Benjamin and Vivian in 2009 and 2012, respectively. And now, she says her experience co-parenting Jack with Bridget is helping to inform how she will navigate custody with Tom post-divorce.

“I say to Bridget— you know, I have a great relationship with her,” Gisele said. “Everything in life comes with work. You have to go through the roller coaster. You have moments where you get to the sticky points and you’ve gotta overcome it.”

The writer of the piece proceeded to ask Gisele if she and Bridget had always maintained such a close bond, prompting her to answer with a definitive “no.”

In fact, Gisele and Bridget didn’t meet for more than a year after Jack was born. However, they eventually became a solid co-parenting trio, with Gisele now standing by the mantra that “love conquers all.”

“My life became so much richer because I got to learn so much from that,” she said, noting that it taught her that “nothing is worth fighting [over].”

Referring to coparenting with Bridget, she said her “goal” was always: “How can I be the most helpful?”

“How can I make it the easiest I possibly can?” she continued. “I put myself in her shoes and I was like, ‘How can I support her?’ Because in the end of the day, we are team players in ‘How are we going to do this so [Jack] can have the best life?’”

And it seems like she’s taking on a similar philosophy in the current chapter of her life, maintaining that she and Tom are striving to keep things as friendly as exes.

“We’re not playing against each other,” she insisted. “We are a team, and that’s beautiful. I look back and I have no regrets. I loved every bit of it.”
