Urban Outfitters Under Fire For Holocaust Fashion — Again

HOW DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING?

Nazi imagery has a bad habit of turning up on products, albeit sometimes in subtle ways, but this tapestry sold by Urban Outfitters is pretty extreme.

The fabric features blue and white stripes with pink triangles that are reminiscent of the uniforms the Nazis forced LGBT people to wear during the Holocaust.

On Monday, the Anti-Defamation League wrote to the retailer urging them to remove the tapestry from stores.

"Whether intentional or not, this gray and white stripped pattern and pink triangle combination is deeply offensive and should not be mainstreamed into popular culture," said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL national director and a Holocaust survivor, in a statement.

"We urge Urban Outfitters to immediately remove the product eerily reminiscent of clothing forced upon the victims of the Holocaust from their stores and online."

The ADL supplied photos to BuzzFeed News showing the product from its "Assembly Home" line was made in India and retailed for $69.

It's not the first time Urban has angered the ADL due to Holocaust imagery on its products, with the group condemning in April 2012 an Urban shirt with a symbol similar to the Star of David, which Jews were forced to wear during the Holocaust.

Urban Outfitters did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
