Israeli Ambassador To U.S. "Breaks Protocol" Again

"Go Patriots."

Amid continuing criticism that he violated diplomatic protocol by orchestrating an invitation for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netayahu to address Congress without White House knowledge, Jerusalem's Ambassador to Washington is at it again — although this time he's just upset Seattle Seahawks fans.

Ron Dermer took to Twitter on Super Bowl Sunday to announce he was "breaking protocol" again by jokingly interfering in a contentious domestic issue dividing Americans: Patriots or Seahawks.

Breaking Protocol, Choosing Sides: Go Patriots.

When House Speaker John Boehner announced last month that he and Dermer had arranged for Prime Minister Netanyahu to address Congress on the threat posed by Iran's nuclear ambitions, the White House and State Department labeled the move a breach of protocol because leaders usually inform the administration before planning a visit.

But that seemed to pale in comparison to the reaction Dermer received to his Patriots fandom.

The last straw, really. @AmbDermer: Breaking Protocol, Choosing Sides: Go Patriots.”

This guy is really, truly unbelievable. “@AmbDermer: Breaking Protocol, Choosing Sides: Go Patriots.”

If only he was as good at growing bipartisan support for Israel as mocking it RT @AmbDermer: Breaking Protocol, Choosing Sides: Go Patriots.

However, Dermer, who was born in Miami, seemed to indicate that he was merely settling on the Patriots, because of the struggles of his home team.

Jews waited for 40 years to get to the promised land. Dolphin fans, 41 and counting.
