Vanilla Ice Arrested For Burglary And Grand Theft In Florida

The rapper-turned-contractor was renovating the home next door, according to authorities in the coastal town of Lantana, Florida.

Vanilla Ice was arrested on suspicion of residential burglary, police in Lantana, Florida said on Wednesday.

The 47-year-old rapper, whose legal name is Robert Matthew VanWinkle, is accused of stealing a pool heater, bicycles and furniture from a home going through foreclosure next door to one he was renovating. In recent years, his work as a contractor has been featured on DIY Network's The Vanilla Ice Project, and according to The Hollywood Reporter, the Lantana home was being filmed for the show.

The burglary took place sometime between December and February, police said, and as part of their investigation, detectives obtained a search warrant for a home of Vanilla Ice's in unincorporated Palm Beach County. Inside, they found several of the stolen items, which were returned to their owner.

After providing a sworn statement to police, Ice was taken into custody on suspicion of grand theft and burglary.

He posted bail after being booked into the Palm Beach County Jail, CBS 12 reported.
