Shootings at a nursing home and residence in southern Texas left five people dead on Friday, police said, including the suspected shooter.

The Robstown Police Department said officers were dispatched around 7 p.m. to the Retama Manor Nursing Center following a report of an active shooter. When they arrived, they discovered the bodies of two men and a woman.

Two more bodies were found at the victims' home, where police arrived after they received a call from family members, City Secretary Herman Rodriguez said in a filmed statement posted on Twitter.

On Saturday, police told BuzzFeed News the alleged shooter was Richard Starry, 60.

The deceased victims were 85-year-old Ernest Starry and Thelma Montalvo, the shooter's father and stepmother, police said.

"The couple's adoptive 13-year-old son and the 41-year-old son of the female were also found dead" at the deceased couple's residence, police said.

The names of the 13- and 41-year-old victims are not being released, police said.

"At this time the evidence points to a murder-suicide, but the investigation is still premature to determine a motive and we will not speculate," police said.

The Texas Rangers will assist in a potential murder investigation, the police said in a statement on the nursing home shooting.

"Our hearts go out to the victims' families and the residents, visitors and employees at Retama Manor who experienced this tragedy," said Chief Erasmo Flores.
