Police: "Power Rangers" Actor Fatally Stabbed Roommate With Sword

Ricardo Medina Jr. was arrested Saturday on suspicion of murder, the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department said. No charges have been filed.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office rejected the case, sending it back to the sheriff's department, authorities told BuzzFeed News. Medina was scheduled to be released from custody on Tuesday.

Former Power Rangers actor Ricardo Medina Jr. was arrested Saturday on suspicion of murder after authorities said he stabbed his roommate with a sword following an argument.

The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department responded to the home in Palmdale, California after 4 p.m. Saturday. According to sheriff's deputies, Medina, 36, had gotten into an argument with his roommate, 36-year-old Joshua Sutter.

The fight turned physical, and Medina left to go into his bedroom with his girlfriend, authorities said. His roommate followed, forcing the door open. Medina then stabbed him once in the abdomen with a sword he kept by the door, authorities said.

He called 911, and Sutter was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

After being interviewed by homicide detectives, Medina was booked into jail on suspicion of murder and held in lieu of $1 million bond.

Medina starred as Red Ranger Cole Evans in Power Rangers: Wild Force in 2002 and played a different, sword-wielding character on Power Rangers Samurai for two seasons starting in 2011.
