A tour bus overturned Sunday afternoon near Delaware City, leaving two people dead and 48 people injured, NBC 10 reported.

The two women who died have been named as 54-year-old Hua'y Chen of New York City, who died at the scene, and 30-year-old Idil Bahsi of Istanbul, Turkey, who died in hospital on Sunday night.

About 50 people were on board the bus, which was the only vehicle involved in the crash.

The bus overturned around 4:30 p.m. near Red Lion Road and Route 1, the Delaware State Police said. One person was killed and others were left critically injured, officials told The News Journal.

"We have one dead, several critically injured and many of what we call the walking wounded," said Sgt. Paul Shavack, a Delaware State Police spokesman.

Fire agencies from around the region responded to treat the passengers. It was not immediately known where they had been traveling to and from.
