A family member called police after finding the couple dead in their Elmwood Park, New Jersey, home Monday morning, prosecutors said. Investigators then determined that 100-year-old Michael Juskin killed his wife, 88-year-old Rosalia Juskin.

An autopsy on Tuesday confirmed that he then went on to kill himself.

Prosecutor John Molinelli said there was a history of domestic issues involving the couple, but authorities had no knowledge of what may have lead to the murder-suicide.

A family member told The Record that Michael Juskin suffered from dementia.

Police had been called to the home three times since 2012, the Associated Press reported, but police said none of the instances suggested Juskin might be violent.

His wife once told authorities he was unstable, and another time that he was harassing her. In January, he accidentally locked her in a basement, the AP reported.
