Amanda Bynes Arrested On Suspicion Of DUI

The 28-year-old actress faces a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence.

Amanda Bynes was arrested early Sunday morning after her Mercedes stopped in the middle of a Los Angeles-area intersection.

Bynes, 28, was taken in around 7 a.m. on suspicion of driving under the influence of a drug, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). She was taken to a local jail and released Sunday afternoon after making $15,000 bail, records showed. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 23.

According to the CHP, officers first saw a white Mercedes Benz GL 450 stop in the middle of the intersection at Van Nuys Boulevard and Riverside Drive for a red light around 3:45 a.m. Officers pulled the SUV over, and Bynes appeared to be under the influence, the CHP said.

She was taken to a CHP office for evaluation by a drug recognition expert, then arrested, the CHP said.

"The subject was cooperative during the entire process," the CHP said.

Bynes has stayed out of headlines following a string of meltdowns last year. Her family applied for a conservatorship, saying they feared she was a danger to herself.

The former Nickelodeon child star completed an inpatient rehab program, then moved in with her parents.

A New York judge in June dismissed charges against her for possession of marijuana and throwing a bong out of an apartment window.
