Jason Carter, the grandson of former president Jimmy Carter, will run for governor of Georgia next year.

The Democratic state senator from Atlanta told the AP he thinks the education system of Georgia is "on the brink" and that the economy isn't working for the middle class.

The current governor of Georgia, Republican Nathan Deal, will be seeking re-election in the 2014 along two other primary opponents. It's expected that Carter's campaign will be well funded.
