24 Facts About "Riverdale" That Will Make You So Excited For Season 3

    A musical episode! A flashback episode! More Choni! More Jughead eating things!

    The Riverdale cast and producers headed down to San Diego Comic-Con for their panel this past weekend, and BOY, OH, BOY DID WE LEARN A LOT ABOUT SEASON 3!!

    Here's everything we now know about the next season of Riverdale:

    1. The first episode will start out three months since we last saw everyone, with Archie on trial for the murder of Cassidy Bullock.

    "I guess we’ll see if he’s gonna go away or not go away," said K.J. Apa.

    2. Veronica is going to be running a speakeasy out of Pop's!!!

    "I think Veronica is going to be an entrepreneur in Season 3...you know, on top of being a high school student," said Camila Mendes. "She’ll be running a speakeasy in Pop's. I feel like we’re seeing a side from her that we’ve never seen now that’s she’s cut off from her father. She needs to make her own money, so she’s working at Pop's and just hustling. And I think it’s a good side of her that will show that she’s not a spoiled rich girl; she’s really trying to prove herself to everyone."

    3. There's going to be a flashback episode where we see the kids playing their parents!

    "Season 1 we wanted to do that [flashback] episode," said creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. "We wanted to have the kids playing the grownups in flashbacks. We haven’t had the chance to do that, but I think we’re going to do that pretty early in Season 3."

    4. Things aren't looking so good for Archie and Veronica, guys.

    "I think definitely there [will be] kind of a distance and separation between them if he goes away," said Apa. "It’ll be tough. It’ll shake things up a bit."

    "I think they’re gonna run into some problems," said Camila Mendes. "I don’t want to say too much."

    5. But don't worry, apparently Bughead is doing great!!!

    "Right now, I think they’re rock solid," said Lili Reinhart.

    6. And (thank god) they're going to be teaming up again to solve mysteries.

    "They start off Season 3 as the investigative duo that they were in Season 1, which is fun," said Reinhart. "So they kind of tackle one of the new mysteries of Season 3 head on and dive deep into it."

    7. Vanessa Morgan, who plays Toni, is officially a series regular now!

    8. And there might be some sort of rivalry between her and Josie.

    Morgan didn't seem to know anything about the rivalry, but based on the "shh"s coming from the panel, it sounds like something is happening there.

    9. Jughead's mom and sister are coming to Riverdale, but they can't announce who they are, yet. All we know is that they'll probably appear in Episode 8 or 9.

    10. Cheryl is going to be on a power high, which, honestly, sounds amazing.

    "Cheryl’s in a place right now where she’s on a power high," said Madelaine Petsch. "She's got her girlfriend for the first time, she’s emancipated from her mother, she’s still a head a cheerleader, and so I think she’s gonna start making power grabs left, right, and center, which I think maybe won’t be so great."

    11. We're gonna see a lot more of Betty and Veronica being friends and Jughead and Archie being friends...FINALLY!

    "We’re going to focus a little bit more on the friendships," said Aguirre-Sacasa.

    12. This season we're actually going to see them talk about things that normal high school students talk about! Like the SATs! Applying to college! Internships! Extracurriculars!

    "One of the things we talked about in the writers room when we started is how important junior year is," said Aguirre-Sacasa. "We’re going to try to infuse this season with lots of high school stuff. Still with all the crime and drama and mystery, but we’re gonna talk about the SATs, applying to colleges, advisors, clubs, all that stuff."

    13. We don't know why, but Jughead is apparently going to be eating a lot more on the show.

    "One of the first things Roberto talked about was making Jughead eat a lot more," said Cole Sprouse, "So he’s gonna be chewing on something almost every scene, which is strange and fun."

    14. Kevin and Moose will definitely be a thing in Season 3, but it might take a while for Moose to get used to dating Kevin in public.

    "He’s trying to figure it out," said Casey Cott. "We’re trying to push him in the right direction, but we definitely are a thing and we’ll watch him and I figure it out. It’ll be fun."

    15. Uh, there's a rumor that Kevin and Josie might find themselves living together thanks to their parents' relationship.

    "I’ve heard a rumor that we might move into together this year," said Cott. "Do we share a bathroom?"

    "I’m hearing that we will share a bathroom and that I will take the most time in it," said Ashleigh Murray.

    16. Josie and Kevin are going to sing together!

    "Oh, yes there will be [singing]," said Aguirre-Sacasa. "Sooner than you think."

    17. And there's most definitely going to be another musical episode!

    18. Reggie is going to have an "unlikely" romance. We don't know who it's with, but we do know that he's going to start working at Veronica's speakeasy...

    19. There's not going to be much peace between the Serpents, Ghoulies, and Hiram.

    "When we meet [the Serpents] in the premiere, they’re trying to maintain peace," said Aguirre-Sacasa. "The Serpents — led by Jughead Jones with Betty and Cheryl — they’re trying to maintain a peace between the Serpents and the Ghoulies and Hiram that quickly gets disturbed in our first episode back."

    20. And it sounds like Betty is officially the Serpent Queen.

    "At the beginning of the season, you see her own that title," said Reinhart. "She’s technically the Serpent Queen. She’s there. She’s doing it."

    21. Hermione is going to use the new power she has to shift the dynamic between her and Hiram. GO, HERMIONE, GO!

    "I think that Hermione is really happy to have a little power of her own, and I think she’s gonna use that power to kind of change the way her marriage has been for the last season," said Marisol Nichols. "So I’m really looking forward to that and also Hermione rekindling the tenuous relationship with Veronica she had for the second season and hopefully getting back to that mother daughter bond they had the first season."

    22. Meanwhile Hiram is going to direct a lot of his Hiram-ness at Veronica and be a massive thorn in her side.

    "I think right now he’s just going to focus on being a thorn in his daughter’s side," said Mark Consuelos. "He really wants to get her to acquiesce and do what he wants, but she’s just as stubborn as he is, so I think they’re going to butt heads. And he’s got to watch his back for Hermione."

    23. At some point, Fred is going to team up with FP and Sheriff Keller.

    24. And, per usual, there will be more death and crime in Riverdale.

    "Only Roberto knows the actual answer to that, but my instinct tells me that this is Riverdale, people are going down," said Luke Perry.
