Dick references the work we did in Wisconsin on entitlement reform – specifically welfare reform – and the national model we created.
Entitlement reform is a key component in bringing true fiscal responsibility to Washington. Not long ago I outlined a policy initiative I referred to as “Ryan Plan Plus”, which enhances Congressman Paul Ryan’s Medicare reform proposal by allowing individuals now under 55-years old the option of remaining in the Medicare system or choosing private insurance.
I believe people will choose the private insurance option because a market-based solution will inject competition into the system and do a better job at controlling costs. As your next U.S. Senator, I will fight to introduce free market principles into government programs that will ultimately reduce spending and provide more freedom for our citizens.
