At least nine people are reportedly dead after a gunman opened fire in a Czech Republic restaurant before killing himself, local media reported Tuesday.
The mass shooting in the town of Uhersky Brod was the worst in the country's history, the Associated Press reported.
The shooter is believed to be a local resident of the town around the age of 60, local media reported. He may have been mentally ill.
Several other people at the restaurant were also injured, Reuters reported.
This Twitter user, who says he works for the interior ministry, said he was traveling with a high-ranking police official who said the attack was not the work of organized terrorists.

Interior Minister Milan Chovanec also said at the scene that the shooting was not a terror attack, the AP reported.
Mayor Patrik Kuncar said authorities think the man came into the restaurant with two guns and began to shoot at random, according to the local report.
"Nobody believed anything like that could happen in such a small town," Kuncar said according to the AP. "I can hardly imagine what consequences it will have for the future life in this town."
According to local radio, the gunman called a TV station shortly before the attack and ranted about the government not solving his problems, the AP reported.
He said he would have to take things into his own hands, the report said.
Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka said in a statement that he was "shocked by the tragic attack in Uhersky Brod."
Uhersky Brod is a city of almost 17,000, about 185 miles southeast of the country's capital, Prague.
