The bus reportedly lost control before striking a power line and scaffolding, injuring 20 people, 6 of them critically, San Francisco Fire Department Chief Joanne Hayes-White said.

The most severely injured included a bicyclist that was hit by the bus, she said. Local Fox affiliate KTVU reported at least three people were trapped underneath the bus.

The crash occurred at the corners of Post and Stockton — a busy intersection — although the bus was reportedly out of control for several blocks prior to its crash, hitting at least one pedestrian and one cyclist.

Came upon a horrible accident on my way back to the office. A tour bus crashed in Union Square. Blood everywhere.

It was unclear what caused the crash, but according to reports given to the SFFD, the driver of the bus was speeding and driving erratically.

"It was like a bomb going off," witness John Zimmer told KGO-TV. "It just kept going boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. Like it wasn't gonna stop."
