The Russo Brothers Just Revealed That Only One Person Has Read The "Endgame" Script And I Bet You Can Guess Who It Is

When the Avengers say they don't know what's going to happen, they're not actually lying!

By now you must know that the most anticipated movie of all time, Avengers: Endgame, is finally dropping next week. I, for one, can't wait.

The story of Endgame will follow the tragedy of Infinity War, where Thanos snapped his fingers and wiped out half of all living creatures, including some of our favourite Marvel characters.

But, what with Endgame being the conclusion to a decade-long story, secrets about the script and plot have been largely kept in the Marvel vault under strict lock and key.

Things are so secretive that Tom Holland, who has an unfortunate reputation for spilling Marvel secrets, wasn't allowed to read the script at all. According to director Joe Russo, he was given his lines and his lines only.

But, in a new interview, the Russo brothers revealed that Tom wasn't the only one who didn't end up reading the entire Endgame script. In fact, all of the Avengers but one were left in the dark!

Talking to Rotten Tomatoes, Joe said: "[Robert Downey, Jr.] was probably the only one to actually read the entire script. I think Benedict [Cumberbatch] got the script that included his scenes only."

He then added that Chris Evans, who has already seen the first hour of Endgame, might've also read the script.

Anthony Russo took over and explained why the brothers keep the script a secret from the cast:

Part of our motivation to do that is it just takes a lot of pressure off of people because it is hard to constantly censor yourself about what you're saying, how you talk. These movies are your whole life. It's everything you're doing all day long. The inclination is to talk about it. So, we take a lot of pressure off of people by just saying: "OK, the less you know, the less you have to mind yourself."

Joe went on to call it a "tedious" way to work because the cast don't have much context for the scenes they're trying to act in. But he added that the pay off is worth it for "that special experience in the movie theatre".

So, with Robert Downey, Jr. being the only Avenger to know what the hell's going on, what was his reaction to Endgame? Of course, he hasn't said much, but he did reveal a little snippet in a recent Marvel featurette.

"Infinity War was nuts, but this one is going to be your finest hour," RDJ said. "There is no way anybody could guess what's going to happen."

The rest of the Avengers won't have to wait long to find out what happens in Endgame though — RDJ is hosting a screening of the movie at his house this weekend!

The rest of us will just have to wait until next week. You can watch the Russo brothers' full interview here.
