It became quite famous when the Zoological Society of London included it in this year's Evolutionary Distinct and Globally Endangered (EDGE) list. It also breathes through its ass.

"Not every vulnerable native species is adorable," the Wilderness Society said on its website.

"If we want a living world that sustains generations of Australians to come, we need to think big picture. Together we can win modern, world-class environmental laws to protect nature and support the life we all depend on. (Even the ugly stuff.)"

This is not the first time Cate Blanchett volunteered her time and talent to raise awareness for the environment. She has previously spoken out on climate change and is a staunch supporter of organisations such as the Australian Conservation Foundation.

The Wilderness Society website says the moth is "not even worthy of a nickname".

"Because moths are super sensitive, they help us understand how ecosystems respond to climate change."
