Ken Cuccinelli Joked About Drinking With Ted Kennedy, Driving Hillary Clinton Home After One In The Morning

The 2008 email was sent out as part of the then-state senator's "Cuccinelli Compass," in which Cuccinelli would inform subscribers about his latest happenings.

Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli joked in a 2008 email about former President Bill Clinton asking a heavily drinking Ted Kennedy to drive his wife, then-Senator Hillary Clinton, home in the early morning hours. The email was sent out as part of the then-state senator's "Cuccinelli Compass," in which Cuccinelli would inform subscribers about his latest happenings.

The emailed involved centered around a fake Democratic National Convention.

"1:35 am - Bill Clinton asks Ted Kennedy to drive Hillary home," Cuccinelli writes.

Ted Kennedy notably crashed his car in 1969 after leaving a party in the early morning hours. His only passenger, Mary Jo Kopechne, died after Kennedy left the scene of the accident.

The email is signed "Ken."

Anna Nix, a Cuccinelli spokeswoman commented "the Democrats are so desperate they are digging up stuff Ken didn't event write. What Grand Jury was Terry McAuliffe testifying in front of in 2008?"

Cuccinelli wrote in a 2007 email archived on the site Virginia Virtucon "First, Me. I am the author of The Cuccinelli Compass. That's why "Cuccinelli" is in the middle of the title (often shortened here to 'The Compass')."

The Virginia Democratic Party called on Cuccinelli to apologize for the comments saying through a spokesman "instead of trying to deny responsibility for his own work, Cuccinelli should apologize and explain how he thinks remarks like these make him fight to lead this Commonwealth as Governor."
