Congressman Mocked By Jimmy Kimmel For Complaining About Lack Of Gym Towel Service

A backlash for complaining about a lack of towels while government workers are furloughed.

On Tuesday, ThinkProgress, the blog for the progressive think tank Center for American Progress Action Fund, reported that the exclusive gym used by members of Congress was left open during the shutdown. The gym houses cardio machines and weight machines, along with a sauna, basketball courts, a swimming pool, and a steam room. But while the gym is open, towel service is UNAVAILABLE.

OH NO, NOT THE TOWELS.

One congressman, Democratic Rep. Bruce Braley of Iowa, was pretty irked that the gym was getting bad press. He didn't fail to mention his frustration of not having towel service because of the government shutdown.

"There's hardly anybody working down there," Braley said. "There's no towel service. So we're doing our own laundry down there. And we pay a fee to belong to the House gym. So this is no different than if you're working for an employer that offers a wellness program, you pay a fee to belong. That's what we do there."

Last night Jimmy Kimmel mocked him for it.
