Two Killed, Four Children Injured After Tornadoes Sweep Through Florida

Two people have died and at least four others were injured after two suspected tornadoes swept through central Florida early Sunday, officials said.

In Manatee County, two adults died and four children were seriously injured after a tornado destroyed a mobile home, the Suncoast News Network reported.

Manatee County EMS officials told WFLA-TV several people were injured as severe weather pushed through Duette and Siesta Key in Sarasota and Manatee counties Sunday morning.

Sarasota County officials also reported damage to multiple homes near Siesta Key. At least one home was destroyed and a woman had to be pulled from the wreckage by first responders, Associated Press reported.


The National Weather Service said a line of strong to severe thunderstorms was expected to move through central and south Florida Sunday morning with a threat of damaging winds, hail and isolated tornadoes.
