A flight from Houston to Istanbul was diverted to Ireland over a security threat Sunday morning, officials confirmed.

Turkish Airlines flight TK34, a Boeing 777-300, landed at Shannon Airport at 11 a.m. local time. The aircraft was met by Irish police and a bomb disposal unit.
Irish national broadcaster RTÉ reported the flight was diverted after a handwritten note was discovered.
Passengers and crew disembarked and were taken to a secure area to be interviewed, an Irish National Police Service spokesperson told BuzzFeed News.
The plane will not be searched until 3 p.m. local time.
The police spokesperson would not comment on the nature of alert or threat, except to say police were "dealing with a security alert."
