Guinness Really Isn't All That High In Calories

Go ahead! Enjoy yourself.

It's pretty heavy tasting, so you might be concerned about how many calories a Guinness or two will be adding to your St. Paddy's Day calorie count.

Scientific fact: 12 ounces of Guinness Draught contains 126 calories. That's only 16 more than a Bud Light.

And it's 42 fewer than the same amount of fresh-squeezed orange juice!

How is this possible? For one major reason: Guinness is not actually very alcoholic. Alcohol is a significant source of calories in a beer.

Guinness seems thick and creamy because it contains nitrogen. It's dark because it contains roasted barley. Neither contributes to a high calorie count.
