The accident happened around 11:10 a.m. Friday across from Minute Maid Park, where the Houston Astros play, near the corner of Crawford Street and Congress Avenue in Downtown Houston. The fire department was on scene within three minutes of the collapse and firefighters were able to rescue six victims. All were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to the fire department.

According to ABC-13, the Houston Fire Department and the construction company are working together to make sure all workers are accounted for and that firefighters are digging through the pieces of the destroyed scaffolding to search for victims.

Capt. Ruy Lozano told KHOU.com that "we're also concerned that perhaps pedestrians walking nearby could have been involved."

Fire officials moved onlookers away from the scene as concerns of a secondary collapse were highly likely, Lozano said.
